5 Signs That Your Mattress Needs Replacing

Published On February 5, 2019 | By Clare Louise | Home improvement

Are you feeling tired when you get up in the morning? You might think that something is wrong with your body, but at the same time, your mattress might be ready for a replacement. A lot of people look at their warranty checks and think that no replacement is required until they’ve expired.

However, the top layers and comfort materials often wear out quicker than the rest of the mattress and this leads to extreme discomfort.

To stop guessing and to know for sure if you should replace your mattress, take a look at these signs.

1.    The Mattress is Old

The first thing to think about is the age of the mattress. The best mattresses can last around 8 years and no more. If the guarantee says 10, 15, or even 20 years, don’t pay attention to it because your mattress is already very old. Read some mattress guides & reviews and you will learn how to recognize an old mattress.

2.    You Wake Up Tired

After sleeping for 7 to 9 hours, you should wake up rested and refreshed. However, if you feel tired when you wake up and your back hurts, this means that your body is working to get into a comfortable position during the night and, well, that your mattress is bad.

3.    You Wake Up in Pain

When mattresses get older, they stop providing proper support to your body. This means that different spots on your body will be under heavy pressure during the night, resulting in great pain. If your back is tired, your shoulders or arms hurt you when you wake up, then your mattress is due for a replacement.

4.    You Fall into the Mattress

Even if there is no visible depth within the mattress, its core might get weaker over time. This means that you will fall in it when you lie down. If this is happening, then the core is too soft, especially if we are talking about foam mattresses. If this is happening to you, chances are that you need a replacement.

5.    Other Beds are Much More Comfortable

When you lie down on another bed, does it feel like you are finally relaxed? Do you sleep better on your couch then on your bed? If the answer to these questions is yes, then your mattress is either too old or simply not good enough.
